Henry V did not use slides.

I am a big admirer of public speaking coach and overall interesting thinker Nick Morgan. His book, Can You Hear Me?: How to Connect with People in a Virtual World, is one of the resources I have turned to most often in the last 18 months.

Because I appreciate Nick’s writing, I’m always particularly pleased when his blog, “Public Words,” addresses a topic I have written about myself. In this case, he gives the reader an alternative way to prepare a talk that does not start with slides.

As a self-avowed Shakespeare geek, an added bonus here for me is that Nick uses Shakespeare’s famous “St. Crispin’s Day” speech to illustrate his method.

What do you think? Can you use Nick’s outline to reach your audience? Will Henry V’s method work for you?
