Making (fake) eye contact

There is no eye contact in video conferences. This is a major way that we establish trust and build relationships, so the lack of eye contact is a pretty big deal.

So here’s a tip:

Look in the camera. Well, first, make sure you know where your camera is! Then, when you’re presenting or when you need to be sure you land a point, look in the camera.

The instinct is to look at the Brady Bunch square of the person you’re talking to, but that directs your eyes away from the camera. In order to build a connection with the person you want to reach, look right in that little green light.
