Do all of our meetings have to be on video now?

In the brave new world we’re living in now, all the meetings seem to be taking place on Zoom or Webex or Google Hangouts. But in an inversion of the old joke about meetings that really could have been emails–is this another video meeting that could have been a call?

While it’s easier to fire up your videoconference platform than to physically go to another place to meet, it’s still worth remembering that there is a level of “showing up” that has to happen when people turn their cameras on, and that preparation means your video meetings will tend to feel more important and last longer than phone calls.
